About meMy name is Heather Ausburne, I am a certified groomer from the Nash Academy of Animal Arts, NDGAA certified master in the Terrier group, Non sporting group, and have been grooming 18 years. My experience ranges from grooming for clients in my home, the local animal shelter, a local salon, to now owning a full service salon, and am an active member of groom team Team Feldspar.
I've always been passionate about animals. I completed a two year Veterinary Technician Certification Program at the Santa Rosa Junior College, then spent 1 1/2 years as a Veterinary Technician until I decided that I wanted to be involved with animals in a different way. Having already been relied on to groom at the local shelter and providing grooming services for friends and family, I entered the field of professional dog grooming. This eventually led me to Kentucky to train at the prestigious Nash Academy where I received extensive hands on training. On July 1, 2015, I decided to put my training and experience to work and opened up The Bark Side dog grooming salon. I continue to further my education and knowledge of grooming trends and sharpening my skills regularly through the year by attending seminars, private lessons, and expos. In 2021 I also joined Groom Team Feldspar and compete twice a year in competitions. On a personal note, I was born in San Francisco and grew up right here in Sonoma County. I have been married for over 25 years and have two children in addition to our Standard Poodles Kiddo and Bender, Miniature Poodles Django and Henley, Maltese mix Brisby, and Yorkshire Terrier Laddie. |
